Myra and I, Kid drama
Mira asked me in the morning before I started painting to put my shirt on and join her on a mission into town to ask local businesses for donations. Of course I agreed, but it seems like she's finding a lot of reasons to keep me from painting lately.
I've definitely been spending more time with her and the kids then any of the other volunteers.
We stopped a few different places including coffee warehouses, a construction store, and the couple other small shops.
Some gave a little others gave a lot, we did get five big bags of concrete mix so I was happy about that I didn't have to worry about putting my sign in the ground.
Later in the afternoon, Mira and her husband went to Loja, about an hour away. She left the kids alone in the house and didn't tell anybody where she was going or when she would be back. So as you can imagine there was a bit of a heated discussion about this.
In central and south America it's common for children to be left alone if the parents think they're mature enough to be left alone.
Even though Jhosselin is only eight years old she's very smart and can take care of her brother and sister, but people start throwing around hypothetical situations like, "what if" this happened or that!
Yes sure accidents can happen but it's a part of the culture here you just have to accept! I was playing with the kids most of the time anyway.
