Coolest border crossing of my life!
This morning I said goodbye to my good friend Karina! I got on the 7 o'clock bus to Bagua Grande, then to Jaén by car, on to San Ignacio in another car, had lunch there waiting for three more people to have a full car to the border. It took about an hour to get a full car and we were off to La Balza, The scenery had been amazing all day and it just kept getting better!
Peru and Ecuador are separated by a river at this border crossing, of course immigration was closed when I arrived and I was sent on a unnecessary wild goose chase trying to find the border official.....
When I talked to the boarder official, he sent me to the next building to the police station where I had to talk to the please officer, and then sent me back to the official stamped me out of Peru. I walked across the bridge and was in Ecuador! It was no problem getting stamped in here and just had to wait a few hours until the bus left, well it was more of a big truck with a bunch of wooden benches on the back!!! Awesome!
The road was an extremely rough mountain road and it took almost 3+ hours to get to Zumba, but was it ever a beautiful, scenic, and adventurous ride! After we had dropped everybody off, the driver of the truck, a young boy, dropped me off right in front of a nice hotel with one of the comfiest bed's I had slept in in months!
