Jess's Overseas Adventures!
Hi everyone!
Well it's been quite a big week for me over here! I had last Sunday off so I met some friends in the Holland Park which is about 15 minute walk from my house. It's a beautiful park actually, and where Louis has football lessons. There's a Japanese garden, rose garden, a huge playground and lots of different pathways and walks. Holland Park is the next suburb south of Notting Hill and very posh, full of huge mansions and where rich families live.
So I went there with Alex and Jamie. Alex is Roxanne's best friend - Roxanne is my friend from work, the other waitress. Jamie is a friend of hers as well, they used to work together at another bar. Then we went to work for a few drinks and stayed there for a few hours. Then Jamie and I went to Trailer Happiness which is on the corner of my street and Portobello Road and is really cool tiki/rum bar. Picked up Rox from work when she finished and went into the West End to a club called AKA and met some other friends there. Ended up getting home at 4 and had to be at work on Monday at 8! So only about 3 hours sleep!
As Louis and Grace's parents, Laura and Hal were married on Saturday, it was a fairly busy week nannying and I was there Monday to Friday, about 11 hours a day. It has been really really hot this week, and finally there was a cool change today. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all about 34-36 and really muggy. Its really different to home as of course nobody has airconditioning as it's never really warm enough. So sleeping this week was a bit annoying as it was still really warm at night and I'm used to at least having a fan by the bed!
On Tuesday, both Redin and I had the night off so he took me to Chelsea to see a few of the bars as I haven't been out much yet which is a bit of a poor effort! We had dinner at a place called Sophie's Steeakhouse which obviously specialises in steaks! Daddy you'd be proud that I asked for it to be medium...and not well-done like normal! I can't remember what type I had now, but it was the best steak I've ever had, sorry Pa! It came with a tomato baked with onions and a baked potato with little pots of sour cream and butter. And they have this amazing steak sauce that goes with it. I couldn't finish mine I was too full but I wish I could have! Then we went to some bars in the area, Kosmopol, Collection Bar and Eclipse which is on Walton Street. (Eclipse is a chain of bars, but the first was the one on Walton Street, there's one in South Kensington, and there's a photo of me outside it in the albums, and there's one opposite us in Notting Hill) They do these watermelon martinis there, where they just shake up fresh watermelon, vodka and sugar - pretty delicious. Apparently they go through 60 watermelons a week! Then we went to K Bar in Chelsea which is a club - but I felt really old as it was full of these rich kids from Chelsea all about 17.
The wedding was yesterday which was beautiful. It was at Chelsea Registry Office and the reception was at Hal's grandmother's house in Belgravia. They had canapés first then a buffet lunch, an icecream bar and a meringue tower as the cake. Louis did a reading at the ceremony of the Owl and the Pussycat which was really cute, and he basically just ran around with his friend Rocket at the reception. I left at about 6 with Grace in a cab to take her home to bed and then Joan, Laura's mum came home with Louis at about 9, so I got to have to night off in the end!
It was James B's birthday so I met him in East London where he was having drinks with friends. Afterwards I met Rox at AKA again, but faded pretty quickly as I'd been up since 7.30 so I went home about 3.30.
I've just been enjoying the cool change today and relaxing - ready for another big week I'm sure!
There's a few new photos in the albums to check out as well,
Lots of love
xx
