Jess's Overseas Adventures!
Hi!
Firstly, thanks so much everyone for the messages on the message board, I love getting them, its great!
At the moment, I'm on a break from work at MP. Doing a double today, so 11 til 5 then 7 til 1. It was totally quiet today so I had the most boring day, polished all the bottles on the back bar and re-washed and polished clean glasses! uughh
I have the next 3 days off, so I'm not sure what I will do as Laura et al are still in France. Yesterday I went to Oxford st - Topshop - just to get some cheapy tops for week, the whole place was just a nightmare, I wanted to yell expletives at everyone around me, it was so annoying.
Yesterday was actually a really lovely day, sun was shining and didn't have to wear a coat over my t-shirt, amazing! Today hasn't been so lovely, but its not so cold anymore, no need for scarves, beanies etc.
The last room in our place has been taken now, so I have another flat-mate. A swedish girl called Erica, who's about 30 and is a finance lawyer.
Pa ~ some info on Portobello and surrounds: The markets are actually really annoying! Now that I'm a 'local' (tee hee) I find the tourists really frustrating cos they all walk so slowly etc. The stalls are actually full of nice things, but I haven't bought anything as nothing has stood out as unique and value for money. There's a great antique map and print shop that I'm sure you would love though. Its really only weekends that Portobello is annoying. Some antique places are open all week tho which is good. The fruit and flowers stalls are open every day which is a nice way to do the shopping and the street itself is quite pretty. I often walk up it to go up to Notting Hill Gate where there is a branch of my library and is quite a busy street leading to Hyde Park.
Also, you would love the shops on the sidestreets off Portobello and Kensington Park Rd (where I work) which is parrallel to Portobello is also really nice with lots of places to eat and cafes etc. The Travel Bookshop is on the same street that Laura lives on - Blenheim Cr - and is parrallel to my street. On the same st is The Spice Shop which you would love Pa! I went in the other day to get some vanilla bean and they sell pieces of cocoa, as in cocoa that has been extracted and rolled into a lump - cool hey!
Anyway, not much news for now, going to have a rest before I go back.
p.s Kelly, in answer to your question, I just have to try all the cocktails to remember them - what a shame!
And also, parentals, did I say that Laura is Eliza Fraser's cousin!! Her mum is sister to Eliza'a dad! crazy!
