Jess's Overseas Adventures!
Hi everyone! I don't think that many people read this journal anymore as I got so slack there for a while, but I promise now that I'm about to start travelling i will add journals/photos much more regularly!Last Sunday I went to Brighton with some friends. I went with Jess - who is another Nanny and I met her when Louis and Jamie - the boy she looks after - where both doing football after school - they are in the same class at school. Her fiance Kurt came as well, his cousin Dan and Dan's girlfriend Michelle - they're all Kiwis. We got the train from Victoria to Brighton, but we thought we were getting the express which is supposed to take under an hour but there wasn't one and it took over 2 hours - totally tedious. Especially as I had only had two hours sleep to get up in time to get the bus to Victoria! When we arrived though it was well worth the wait as it was a gorgeous day, very sunny and warm in the sun - as you can see in the photos. We got there at lunchtime so immediately sussed out a place to have lunch and ended up in a nice place where I had fishcake (strange but true family) made of haddock and salmon which was really nice. After, we walked along the boardwalk and then strolled down Brighton Pier. We also saw the imperial palace - not the inside but just some of the gardens. In the afternoon, Dan and Michelle went to the pub to watch football and Jess, Kurt walked around "the lanes" which are little streets (obviously) full of antique shops and little cafes and shops - very quaint and English. I bought some charms for my bracelet - a viking helmet (an ode to the alleged 1/8 swedish blood in me!), a "7" - my lucky number, a champagne bottle in a bucket - for obvious reasons, and a spinning wheel - a nod to sleeping beauty (shame on you if you don't get the connection). Also bought a fab scarf from a little vintage place. Went to a pub in the afternoon - but I bailed and had a cup of tea. Started to fade pretty fast by 4 ish due to the lack of sleep and we all got the train back at about 5 ish, and I slept most of the way. A lovely day really and great to get out of London. Finished the night in Fulham at Roxanne's place watching Grey's Anatomy DVDs and eating chinese (wonton soup and fried green beans, mmm yum).Work pretty full-on this week, but my last shift at the bar is in a weeks time. Going to geneva on the 3rd November to meet Sally who's living in Lyon which will be fantastic (well i presume so!)xx
