Left early yesterday from Fraser Range, saying goodbye to our friends as they planned to get past Esperance on a deadline into Perth. We stopped briefly in Esperance and were overwhelmed and stressed in a busy supermarket after little civilisation in the last two weeks. Had a few people tell us about Cape Le Grand National Park and once we were stocked up again we headed here rather than stay in Esperance. Once we arrived we could understand why it came highly recommended. We camped at Lucky Bay camp ground overlooking the bay and shadowed by the granite mountains. Today we all walked to the top of Frenchman Peak. This 262m ascent was a scramble at times, a granite rock face with a huge granite top. Unbelievably Tully was so excited to climb the mountain he made it all the way without so much as the hint of complaint (much to the disbelief of the grey nomads also attempting the climb). He was so proud of himself once at the top, and we were pretty proud too. From here we drove to Cape Le Grand Beach and drove the car along the sand and then onto Hellfire Bay. All these beaches have amazing blue water and white glassy sand. We returned to Lucky Bay and strangely enough in such a remote place we could get a coffee from the coffee cart set up on the beach. We strolled along the sand with the Kangaroos hopping around us, back to camp for a rest!
