So this last week has been in Broome. We were all eagerly awaiting this stop and the arrival of Nan and Pop, familiar faces from home. We arrived into Broome on Saturday and they arrived in on the Monday to big hugs and excitement from all. They were generous enough to have Tully sleep over in their apartment on night 1 and in his words upon seeing their pool "This is awesome, I'm going to love this" so he happily went off, allowing Jarrod and I the opportunity to go on the day trip to Horizontal Falls. This was truly a highlight of the trip so far. We flew by sea plane to the falls, fed the pet Sharks, circling the pontoon before boarding the jet boat for a tour of the falls. The force of the water in these gaps was amazing and the cruise into Cyclone Creek was just beautiful. We were both blown away by the experience only then to be back on the plane flying at 500ft above the Buccaneer Archipelago. These 1000 islands are covered in green and surrounded by blue water. Only really appreciated from the air. We landed on the gravel runway at One Arm Point and visited a fish hatchery before traveling to Cape Leveque for barramundi lunch. We had long talked about visiting this area. Every night since my mum and dad had visited here we have read Tully the stories of the people of One Arm Point from the book "Our World". And friends we met on tour in Africa had previously lived at Cape Leveque so we were keen to send them our picture on the steps at Kooljaman. We traveled back to Broome via 4WD, a long and arduous drive and we were glad to hit the bitumen road once back in Broome. The remainder of the week was
spent relaxing by the pool and getting sorted to hit the road again. We enjoyed some great nights out with Bev and Haydn, and we think they really enjoyed time with Tully and hopefully us too. They quickly acclimatised, and as we prepared to leave they seemed very much settled into the relaxed life that is Broome. Our last evening was filled with a camel ride along Cable Beach. The beach and its sunsets are definitely the draw card for Broome and the camels are a nice touch. It took us all week to convince Tully the camel ride would be fun and true to form he loved every minute on his camel "Cloud". So after a week, tomorrow we say goodbye. Bev and Haydn will stay on for a few days, themselves doing the Horizontal Falls trip on Monday. We head to Derby, ready to swelter in 35 degree heat.
