The last couple of days we went back to movie world, I tried Scooby doo and the log flume again and got a lot better at target shooting in Justice league, we watched a few Harry Potters and had some entertaining pool time at the house with the underwater cameras.
We went to the cinema as it is really cheep here in tweed, went to see the wolf on Wall Street, we weren't all that impressed! Yesterday we had a bit I a day off, sorted out our car rental for the next few weeks and Amy got her CV together before we popped out to the gym and Coles.
Today we were up early and set off with our lunch packed and a bag full of bird seed to Lamington National Park where Judy's neighbour recommended us to go for a rainforest trek and as a good place to feed wild lorikeets. It was about an hour and 15 and up a very steep, windy, narrow road. We spotted quite a few Wallabies and one Kangaroo, along with some cows and Alpacas.
We parked up and reached the bird feeding area, Mike went in first with the seed and immediately got swarmed by 3 or 4 Lorikeets! We quickly joined and the definitely weren't scared, swooping in and landing on any bit of us they could find, head and shoulders were very funny and took a little while to get used to them. They were very beautiful birds though and allowed us to get up close as long as we had some seed to exchange with them. Amy conquered her fears of birds and coped with them flying at her and landing on her head... Jen did not and kept a very safe distance and took photos! She was too scared to keep the bird seed bag closed in her pocket so she put it down on the ground. Next think we know a big turkey has ninja'd itself to the bag and is sprinting away with the whole bag in its beak and a guilty glance back! It dropped it to realised quickly Mike was on the chase and quickly waddled off into the foliage! Later we found the torn bag and all the seed gobbled with the turkey looking pretty pleased with himself!! Very funny few minutes we wished we'd caught on film.
After some eventful feeding we found our way onto one of the walking routes through the rainforest. Very enjoyable trek but we shudder to think of the big poisonous snakes and spiders we must have passed close to! We didn't see any snakes, me and Mike were quite disappointed, we did see some cool stuff though:
A Skink, some Leminton Spikey Crayfish, a couple of Bilbys that darted off quickly, some more wallabies some big spider webs but only 1 big spider.
On that note we saw our first huntsman spider in living quarters the other night. I got a phone call to go downstairs to Mike and Jens room armed with a glass but we quickly worked out there was no way it was fitting under the glass!! We called for Dean to help who managed to throw a towel over it, speedy thing! We were also told by the neighbours that they saw a big brown snake headed up to us yesterday so were all walking about the house tentatively scanning corners!
