This week has been nice and relaxing, we came back to Tweed heads as accommodation was very expensive, there's no beaches in cairns and once you've done the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree and maybe a skydive, bungee (no thankyou) or white water rafting there's not a lot else to see. Yesterday we had a relaxed morning and caught friends on tv in the lounge area while eating crumpets for brekkie. We got out and about fairly soon after that and walked along the boardwalk towards the lagoon. The lagoon was lovely, a man made beach/swimming pool really but as it was so humid and at 31 degrees it was a nice oasis after a hot walk. Sunday we had our flight from Gold Coast to Cairns, Judy kindly dropped us up at the airport. Unfortunately they delayed the flight so we didn't leave until 8pm and didn't get to the hostel until 10.30. So we had to find our key in the safe and locate our dorm room. So the weather didnt brightened up! Most of the week there were blankets of thick cloud and lashings of rain showers which prettying covered all the east coast. We stayed in on Tuesday and had a joggy bottom day, Wednesday we went for a fairly long walk from coolangatta, Rainbow bay to Kirra in between the rain showers. Friday we took a road trip down to Byron Bay, nice and easy 50 minute drive, even if people here don't seem to understand the overtaking rules for the right hand lane.
