Yesterday we did wet and wild, I did a lot more rides than movie world! It was a bit overcast though so quite chilly but we had fun! Started on the racer slide, did some flumes which were quite slow then cranked it up with the constrictor and kamikaze which was very scary! We did a toilet bowl one as a 4 which you turn around in before being spat out and the black hole. There was 2 rides I didn't do as they had big drops! The others did the flume drop where you stand nearly upright and after a countdown the floor drops and and you drop quite a way in the flume before a loop the loop! I was quite happy watching that one. Generally enjoyed it a lot more than the roller coasters though!! We picked up some new thongs (havianas) on the way home and got drawn in to a fish a chip shop by there $5.50 billboard offer.
Today we visited currumbin wildlife park, we had a great day. We got in early to be the first to hold and cuddle a koala. He was called rocky and was such a cutie! He didn't smell half as much as I thought he would, although I did get a poo pellet on my foot, and he was a good cuddler, not digging in with his claws! We got a few pictures with him and the saw a few of the animals around that end of the park. Grabbed the train along to catch the bird of prey show where we met Barbara the black tailed cockatoo and a black breasted buzzard that we saw crack open a fake emu shell by picking up rocks and throwing them at it. The best bit was a very large eagle that soared straight over our heads, very low flying! Amy didn't like it at all, I ducked at the last minute. We went on to the Australasia show where they had a few big snakes and a sheep shearing demonstration with some awkward audience participation, not us thankfully! After that we were all getting a bit hangry and diverted to grab a hot dog on the way to the big croc show... And a big croc it was! We took the opportunity to have a photo with a baby crocodile, he was lovely! Such a soft belly surprisingly!
On the way out to the car to change our shoes we petted and fed the kangaroos which was awesome, I made a Joey friend who was loving my behind the ear scratching, he was stretching and looking for more until a branch falling spooked he and him along with about 15 other hopped off quickly. The other braver ones stayed on high alert for a while and you could see them thinking 'what on earth was that'. We caught sight of a Tasmanian devil much closer and saw a very cute but big dingo on our way out. We stuck our trainers on for our high wire obstacle course experience! We had to suit and harness up and after a quick demo we were pretty much left to our own devices. We all did 2 'games' which involved climbing, steps, boards across trees, balancing across wires, pulling ourselves along hire wires with a pulley and flying fox zip wires. Me, Amy and Mike went onto the black course which was expert level and a lot higher, Jen made a good photographer from the bottom. This course involved heights up to 18 meters +, it was ALOT higher than it sounds! Hight wasn't a problem and the long hire zip wires were great but the course was rediculously hard work on the arms! The ladders had massive gaps to clamber up high up into trees, obviously you have to move your caribinas up with you so your always attached with your harness. My arms were killing by the time we got to the monkey bars, there was no way I could do it and the massive drop bellow wasn't helping so I cheated a bit and sat down in my hardness along with the other girls on the course. The next bit was horrendous... Foot holes on big hanging ropes- very hard to get your balance and support yourself. Amy dropped here but luckily her harness did it's job! I just about made it but my hands and arms were killing after that! luckily there was a nice big zip wire after that one. We made it to the end after an hour (the staff could do the course in just over 4 mins!!! It seems impossible as you've got massive ladders to climb and you're constantly clipping yourself on and off!) and were really quite hot a sweaty so we treated ourselves to a cold coke before heading back. Tomorrow is a rest/baking day and I need to buy my 9th pair of sunglasses as another pair bit the dust today, bad times- I have a bad track record!
