Our last fun day in Coffs Harbour was a hot one so we packed up the bat and ball and walked down to park beach then on to the creek the other side. It was high tide and the creek has a very strong current out to sea so along with quite a few others around us we jumped in and rode the natural lazy river. It was great fun apart from a few grazed knees from when it got shallow and we got marooned for a section of it. Amy tried to turn over a bit further down stream and end up getting caught up in a few teddy bear style rolls which was pretty funny. We repeated this for a good while and then me and Amy dried out under the sun on the beach following a good game of French cricket.
The next day we had a long old journey up from Coffs Harbour to Tweed City, the train only went as far a Casino and then we had to get on the bus for the last few hours, all together it was about 9 hrs, was ok though better than the journey up to Coffs! We got more sleep this time and watched some films on the iPad/kindle. We arrived and stopped off at mc Donald's as we were all pretty hungry, it was cheap and right there, it was meant to be! After trying to grab a taxi for a while after that mike went into a petrol station and they kindly called us one. We had a quite a character pick us up trying to take us pommies for a ride by telling us about the drop bears that are like aggressive koala bears that drop from trees... We nearly believed him.. Amy thought she'd seen them in the zoo! He nearly had me but for once I wasn't so gullible. He dropped us off at Judy's very nice house by Terranora lake. Judy's one of the people we met on Australia Day in Coffs and kindly said she had 3 spare double beds she'd love to put us up in if we moved up the coast! We had a good catch up with her until the early hours of the morning then crashed in our own double beds! First time I'd slept in my own bedroom for 6 months, it was weird me and Amy did miss each other and woke up a bit lonely!
Yesterday we had a bit of a lazy day and then Dean, Judy's son took us to Tweed city shopping centre to pop into Coles and pick up some food bits and bobs.
Today we explored tweed a bit more and did the touristy bit of visiting the border between New South Wales and Queensland where we can stand with one foot in each state and a hour time difference! We grabbed a cheap ice cream and drink with our student cards and had a browse around the shops in Twin Towns before Judy stopped by and picked us back up.
