Day 20 - We were Happy at Happy Banana..
Due to our hungover day yesterday we thought we had better go into hospital one last time so we went into the emergency A&E department for the morning again. Unfortunately didn't see any emergencies as such however a man did come with his wife who found he was unconscious, he was unresponsive therefore they had to intubated him to protect his airway, he was also found to have unresponsive pupils, once he was stable he was sent to have a CT head, this unfortunately found a haemorrhage in his brain and brainstem, the prognosis is very poor and they were going to start withdrawing care, we saw the doctor explain to his wife... She was very strong, we have noticed that about Sri Lankan people, they are very strong characters and don't show much emotion. We had a chat to some of the other doctors, they were telling us how there is no 999 ambulance service for the public, only on motorways, therefore everyone has to make their way into hospital themselves!
From hospital we went straight to unawatuna for a sit on the beach and then we went to sahanna for our last surf with the Edinburgh lot and the German guys! Emotional we have spent a lot of time there these past weeks! Then we went home via the wine store for gin and mixer for our last night celebrations!! First went for dinner at Elitytas a great little find, shame we only been at the end but had really nice prawn curry it was really coconutty, almost Thai like. Finished of with a nice cream for pudding from dairy king, how could we resist for our last night!
Met all the others up on the balcony and had pre drinks, played some games and went to get tuk tuks to unawatuna at about midnight, we were going to the party at Happy Banana, we didn't know what to expect but once again we were pleasantly surprised it was really fun, really busy, good music, right on the beach, we met some Korean guys who were massive!! They were security on some of the cargo boats protecting them from Somalian pirates!! Wouldn't want to mess with them! Had a good boogie and ended the night with a roti which should definitely become a trend in UK, great post night out snack. Returned to guesthouse about 3.30 much better than the 9.30 on the previous night! Greeted by a rat on the telephone wire!!
