Hello Sri Lanka!!

Finally arrived in sunny Sri Lanka after a smooth journey! Flights were great, first flight was with some of the guys from uni which was nice and they left us in Dubai to set off for Borneo. The connection from Dubai was particularly memorable! A lovely man kindly decided to upgrade Rachel and I free of charge! So travelling business class was rather a novelty and we were like kids in a sweet shop trying out all the gadgets- massager chair, multiple lights, menu of multiple food options which was obviously our highlight along with the welcome drink of champagne before we took off!! We were in heaven, surrounded by frequent business class flyers who clearly thought we were a bit bonkers! A nice man next to us who used to live in Sri Lanka gave us lots of tips which were useful! Especially etiquette of being in Sri Lanka I.e do not blow your nose on a tissue and put it in your pocket as this is massively offensive... Bizzare!
On arrival into Columbia Jess was already there waiting for us and we got a taxi to galle direct much easier than our original idea of bus and train! It's beautiful here, the hostel is lovely, really nice helpful lady who knows all about where we need to go tomorrow in the hospital and has organized our tuk tuk rides in the morning.
Just been out to a restaurant and had some rice dishes but we were all knackered and falling asleep at the table so have decided to have an early night under Rachel and I's romantic mozzie net canopy!
