Day 21 - At one with nature...
We treated ourself to a little lie In this morning before we had to get up and begin the mammoth task of packing our big bags again... I appear to be the worst at packing or I've brought far too many clothes.. Enjoyed our last breakfast and beach haven which was delicious, going to miss those! I wanted to get some nice photos of the fort so Rachel and I went for a stroll around. Galle for the last time and got some good snaps it was a lovely day!
We were all dreading having to carry our bags and negotiate bus journeys but then Ross one of the Edinburgh guys suggested getting a mini bus as they were coming with us on safari too, we all jumped at this idea, an A/C bus over a packed hot bus anyday! So we paid beach haven, thanked them for a lovely stay, said bye to our lovely air con which we will miss dearly and we were off on our way!
2hours later we arrived into Tissamahamara, the closest town to Yala national park, we arrived at our guesthouse River Face Inn, it was beautiful, a haven, very natural with a river running past and hammocks hung in the gardens, there were palm trees to climb and rocking chairs overlooking the scenery, very peaceful. The family who owned it were so friendly they greeted us with papaya juice and offered us a home cooked curry for dinner! Our room was huge!! It was a family suit for 4 however we were saving money by not having air con.. We were not used to this and it was a very sweaty night!
We went for a walk into town through some of the local residential houses, there were so many little children who were so so excited to see us!! White faces are clearly very exciting!! In town we got some breakfast for the morning and some little Sri Lankan snacks for like 5p that they were cooking at the side of the street think they were dahl biscuits.. They were nice whatever they were.
Got back and had dinner and played some games then had an early night before a very early safari morning!!
