Another relaxed start to the day. Charlotte and I went to Brooke Valley golf course to try and arrange a game for Tuesday. The course was closed so we must wait to find tee off times.
We caught up with the Henche's and our parents in downtown Greenville at lunch time. We opted to sit outside at the Peasants pub. We shared some battered pickles then I sampled some local catfish. Lunch was a very relaxed affair over a couple of hours enjoying the sun & good conversation. Our very attentive waitress was out with free refills for our soft drinks almost the moment we finished. The service is restaurants here once again out does its English counterparts. With only fine dining at home being on a par with this part of the US.
The next five hours I spent worshipping the sun god from my pool side lounger. When the clock struck 17:00 free beer, cookies and popcorn were provided courtesy of the hotel.
By this point in the day the Silvers had joined us. After hanging around the hotel the kids and Charlotte headed home while us adults went out for dinner at Basil's. I was concerned when I ordered my Sauvignon Blanc here as the waitress stated that nobody had asked her for that before. The wine was fine though and my meal of veal and pasta was excellent. It had been 17years since the Henche's had last seen Ernest so there was plenty to talk about.
By the end of the meal we were all feeling tired from good food and spending time in the sun.
It has been nice on this trip to have early nights. There have been many occasions such as tonight, where I have made it to bed, before I would finish work some nights at home. There is a lot to be said for having an established routine.
