As it was Easter Sunday in the American south, it seemed very appropriate to experience a church service. Ernest as worship pastor had been working on a theatre production for this weekend. Ryan had an acting role in this production as well.
The theme was the resurrection of Jesus. The production contained clips from the movie the passion of Christ, alongside real life experiences of members of the congregation who had their lives changed by religion. Ernest was conducting the choir as well as singing a solo at one stage.
As a amateur dramatic production it was excellent. Mixing a serious message with fun & music. The choir was particularly impressive.
The overall experience was very intense . Members of the congregation were certainly caught up in religious fever. Which is of course the purpose of church, especially at Easter. The overall message of having faith in things getting better when times are hard is certainly one, that no one can argue with. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and I would not have grumbled at paying to see the play.
After church it was time to eat. We headed to a steakhouse. As you would expect the portions were huge. Sharing starters of wild west shrimp & chicken. To go with the complimentary bread. Most of us ordered steaks that came with a side salad, that of course was a meal in itself.
Sleep was the only thing possible after a meal of that size. I managed to make it back to the hotel, by driving the Jeep back with its windows down and sunroof open. It being warm enough to do this is fantastic.
In the evening we went round to the Silvers for a mixture of games and television. I spent the night relaxing on the couch drinking root beer.
