We headed out for brunch not sure where we were going. Charlotte spotted a five guys franchise and the decision was made. Famous or their burgers & fries across the states this was by no means a healthy start to the day.
Next was a regular holiday trip to Walmart in search of bargains. The novelty of shopping here has worn out substantially since they bought out Asda in the UK. It's very odd to think of people from the US popping into to your local Asda, but it is a tradition.
The Americana continued in the afternoon with a trip to the bowling alley. Our prepaid limit ran out on our third game where I had just bowled two strikes in the tenth frame. But it was a fun afternoon with some snacks & sodas along the way.
When we emerged from the lanes the sun was out in full force. We headed back to the hotel to take advantage of sitting by the pool, enjoying the managers happy hour. We have tried this at Jesmond Dene House with limited success. Perhaps we should have offered cookies & popcorn & not just the free drinks. I was able to enjoy the sun while drinking free beer. A good deal all round. As you can see in the photos Ernest did not feel it was sunbathing weather. All about what is normal for you.
The evening was spent at the Silvers home where Charlene had made a tasty spicy chicken soup with some sandwiches. Before dinner when the everybody was in the back garden, I took some time to myself to sit on the porch as watch the sunset.
Another relaxing day in Greenville. With the promise of more of the same to come.
