A light breakfast in the room was all that was needed to get the day started. After another trip to Walmart to stock up on golfing supplies we headed to the golf course.
Playing were my mother, father, Ernest & myself. Spectating we had Charlotte, Ryan, Carly & Abi. For the last three this were their first time on a golf course so they were being told about golf course etiquette. Which I'm sure they were all thrilled about.
We had split feelings in the group over the weather. Us Geordies were feeling the heat, while the natives wrapped up due to 'the cold'.
The course was nice and wide open and did not present many challenges which was good considering it has been over 7months since my last game.
After 9holes Ernest had to get back to work and took Carly & Abi with him. The golf did not become more serious upon his departure in fact I think we were all feeling the affects of the sun. We all became more interested in blasting the ball as far as possible as opposed to keeping it straight. Probably inspired by the here comes the boom film on the flight over. Even Ryan had his first swings of a golf club. I believe he did connect with the ball on at least two occasions. Clearly showing we are the wrong people to be learning golf off. The clubs Randy Taylor had provided were very good. The dry baked grass look confused us all, as the ground was actually very soft.
By the end of the round we were all in good spirits but my father and I were starting to turn red from the sun.
With a quick turnaround we went to an all you can eat Coral. I went so far as to have salad and fruit to start in an effort to counterbalance the onslaught of seafood, meats and ice cream.
By the end of the meal I was goosed. The food combined with my increasing burnt skin was taking its toll.
Dad & I decided to call it a night after stopping at Walmart for some after sun and sun screen for the remainder of the week. As you can see in the pictures,it never occurred to us to wear any today when others seemed so cold.
One mans cold, is another's summer!
