Upon arrival to Lilongwe airport I had to purchase a visa for $75 which I had not had to do previously. Scotty & Don were waiting for me & the sun was out on a beautiful day. Flying in I noticed the country seemed much greener than on my previous visit at the height of the rainy season.
Feeling particularly tired after not have slept at this point for 29 hours. I reasoned that it would make more sense to try & stay awake for a few more hours before having an early night.
Scotty is still on crutches & therefore can't drive so we got dropped off at a wildlife sanctuary that has its own restaurant/bar. Sitting outside in the warmth was exactly what was needed having been stuck on a plane from cold Newcastle. The reserve is a nice place of natural peace but still within the city limits.
Don joined us after work & we headed to Bucanans bar for a drink, a very smart hotel bar, then the Keg. Everywhere we went we bumped into people who knew Don. One bold lad even asked her to come outside for a minute! I had only been to Bucanans before, these other bars were all very nice. Very different from my last trip.
We finished the night off with a KFC, & I was promptly in bed for 21:30.
