A lazy morning allowed us a late start to set off for the lake. We stocked up on vital supplies, like water & fried chicken. Ok so the fried chicken wasn't vital but it was tasty. This was purchased from Cristel's favourite takeout in town.
Then we set off out on the open road. Which isn't so open as it turns out. It had been pointed out to me that Makawi was densely populated. The car journey made how clear that was. With people at the side of the road for almost the entire journey. As you can see from the photo's animals were a problem. We managed to break in time to avoid a head on with a goat, but the chicken that crossed our path later on, was not so lucky.
We stopped off in Selima for Scotty to have a quick chat with Eric who heads up his outgrowers programme. We took the opportunity to grab some ice cream. Selima won't be a place I will hurry back too though.
The final road to the Lake was flooded but the Rav 4 made it through the torrent & we arrived still in daylight.
The Funky cichlid is right on the beach with its bar looking out over the water.
We walked along the beach to Geco for some drinks. We were accompanied on the walk by a man attempting to sell trinkets. He was friendly enough. We returned to cichlid for dinner. I opted for grilled Chambo, one of the many fish found in the Lake.
Scotty & I stayed in the bar till closing time. Which is only 10:30 allowing for a good nights rest.
