Game day! Today I went over to see Chigoli for the first time. This was a very exciting moment as last time I was here Chigoli was very much at the drawing board stage. I had no idea what to expect.
The under 16 team had a home game. They play at Bishop Mackenzie school which is where I played football last time I was out.
Before we got to kick off much like our games at home their were a few absentees, & a few latecomers. What differed was the reason behind the absentees. Few of the squad had malaria, one who did had turned up to try & play though!
The quality of the football was at a much higher level than I was expecting. It's worth noting that the Chigoli squad featured players who could have played at a younger age bracket. They won the game 4-3 despite being 3-1 up at half time. They should have put the game to bed in fairness. I never thought watching a game would be so tiring standing on the touch lines in the heat.
After the game the younger lads mixed & had a game together. This was interrupted after an hour though when the heavens opened. This trapped us at the school for almost an hour as no one could go anywhere.
By the time we got home we only had an hour to turn around before the toon game. Don & her friends kindly arrived at ours bearing alcohol. Before dropping us off at Breeze for the match. At this point Scotty came into his own. As with two minutes gone in the game he attempted to get one of their two TVs turned over. This caused uproar in the bar. A happy compromise which worked out better in the end, saw them put the game on outside for us & Amir.
The girls came to collect us after the match & after some more drinks at home we ventured to a bar and club in town.
We tried to catch last orders in the sunbird once again but as it was very early in the morning now we were too late & instead had to settle on calling it a night.
