Today was about being in transit. Never a very enjoyable experience. The length & minor problems on this journey made it almost unbearable.
Despite being unwell when setting off I was up at 09:00am to finish some last minute chores off. My mother cooked a full English together to set me on my way.
I got to the Newcastle airport at 13:00 & was through security by 13:05. Avoiding the customary pint I awaited the short hop to London.
Arriving slightly early to Heathrow the much worried about leg of the journey was completed with ease by only taking hand luggage. The transfer bus got me to terminal 4 with time to spare and wait before boarding. I was sat next to a very nice English couple on the flight, but my seat had a fault with sound. I could listen to music but not watch tv or movies. I managed to get through two hours of the flight by having dinner. It became apparent that sleep wasn't going to happen for me so. I requested to move seats. By the time they got me one the plane was in full on night mode. As one of the passengers I got sat next too was asleep he had left his bag on the floor that made sitting there almost impossible. The fact the other chap was a large bloke with I s*** u not a large puffa jacket on, made for a really uncomfortable 4hours. After breakfast I gave up & went back to my original seat.
I landed into Nairobi at 04:25 their time (01:25 GMT). Had my journey been at or near and end there I would have been happy. But no as I my knowledge of African airlines is limited to Kenyan airways. My flight wasn't until 11:05 their time. Though I worked out that had I wished to fly on Zambia flag carrier I could have got a much earlier connection.
