Today began with my first outdoor run south of the equator. On my previous visits I had restricted myself too running in the gym. There is a two mile loop along the main road from Scottys. Despite doing this around 10:30am the temperature had already reached 26degrees. I've been on runs in that temperature in New York but the heat here is different. I'm not sure the weather apps are getting it right. Certainly feels warmer. There was also the quizzical looks of all the locals. As the bald white man round around in a vest top. I still managed a reasonable pace of 8:11 a mile. Though I would not have been able to go any further.
Back at the house Scotty & Amir were meeting with Tom to discuss Chigoli matters. I remained positioned by the fan in an effort to cool off.
After the meeting we popped to the supermarket to stock up on some supplies for dinner.
Swiftly we headed over to meet George at Breeze, for me to sit in on another Chigoli meeting. I of course took the opportunity to grab a beer or two. At the end of the meeting, George & I stayed for a couple of beers. For some reason unlike every other school, Bishop Mackenzie didn't have a half term. With him working full time there & Chigoli he was certainly due a beer!
Back at the house we let Scotty start on cooking as Don & I took wine on the sofa. Then halfway through in typical Malawi fashion the power went out.
After waiting to see if it would just be a brief outage we gave up & headed to grab a takeaway from Bombay Palace. A spot of excellent parking by Don who took up two spaces in the car park, deserved a photo.
Driving back Don could not resist the allure of some Chicken Wings from KFC. I feel she may have an addiction! Mind you who doesn't like KFC.
Some more Ricky Gervais accompanied our meal before the laptop power finally drained too & bedtime was called.
