Today we woke at 4.30am to go to Angkor Wat. I went to the toilet before we woke and found the biggest spider I have ever seen on the wall. We got a tuk tuk and drove to angkor in the dark to be there for sunrise. We sat waiting for the sunrise with about a thousand other people, but it was cloudy and we wasn't sure how long to sit and watch so we got up to look around. Even though where we were sat looking at angkor wat was really busy; inside was really quiet and empty it felt like we had it to oursleves.
They were built in like the 12th century and are really impressive. Then we went to the next set of ruins called angkor thom(i think) this is the temple with many heads peering around at the top of the towers there were even less people there which was good and there were a few monks in their orange robes wandering around. We set off for some of the smaller temples which werent that impressive once you have seen the first two and we climbed to the top of one which must have been 50m high with no banister and it was really not worth it in the heat and humidity even though it was barely 8.00am. We saw a Japanese guy who's whole T-shirt was a different colour from sweat. We then tried to go to another small temple because I wasn't wearing 'appropriate' clothing and I put on a cardigan and wrapped a shawl around my legs like a sarong but they still said no it was my fault really I didn't realise that there was a dress code but luckily I was let into the main ones so I wasn't that fussed.
We went to the third most famous temple ta phrom it is famous because it has trees growing out of it and on top of the buildings. It was really pretty but there were so many annoying japanese that it didnt seem as good as the other two. There are alot of japanese here. We were done at Angkor Wat by 11am even though we thought it would take the whole day.
We went back to the hostel and had lunch and tried to figure out what to do with the rest of our day. We went to go find a tour company I had seen on the internet but once we found it it was more like a bus station and not a tour company so we had to figure out how to spend our next day here as we had planned to do one of their tours. We decided to have a nap in the heat of the day like the rest of the cambodians we went back to the room but it was so hot even with the fan on it was hard to sleep. After a few hours in there it was too hot and we decided to go to the bar which was a good move as it was nice and breezy and we cooled down over some drinks. We left to find somewhere for dinner and found that the restaurant we ate at did a cooking class so we booked it for the next morning. Then we went to a night market, we bought some jade (looking) lions and a few magnets and a painting of angkor wat. There were some children doing traditional cambodian dancing on a stage which we watched and on our way out of the market there was a band made of victims of landmines which was sad and we gave them some money.

Sravya Though your experience was not so good enough, the temple around was so good to look. Thank you for sharing your experience, if I had to be there I'll make the necessary arrangements well in advance.
