The flight was ok but not as good as other emirates flights however the food was good and the drink was still free. We had worried way too much about customs and we didnt even get searched. The hotel was amazing and for £14 it included transfers and breakfast and when the picked us up we found that we'd been undercharged so it actually cost less than £14 per person per night! Our room was so nice compared to what we were used to and we looked so scruffy compared to everyone else!
The next day we decided to take a walk to the creek but it was so hot! About 45 degrees and over 90% humidity! We only managed about 45 mins outside in the heat before giving up and going back to the hotel and booking an organised tour for the next day. That 45 mins also included numerous stops into shops for air-conditioning and we ended up walking less than 200 meters before giving up! It is just not feasible to explore on foot here.
We decided to take the metro to Dubai Mall which in itself was really cool as it is driverless and above the ground so you can see all the different skyscrapers whilst being in the comfort of air conditioning! Dubai mall is the largest mall in the world and it is connected to the Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world. We had already pre booked our tickets as on the day it was about 6 times more expensive!
Dubai mall also hosts the largest aquarium tank opposite the largest candy store and also outside is the largest dancing fountains! There is probably alot more "worlds biggest" stuff that we didnt actually find out when we were there. We didnt go in many shops however since even without tax designer stuff is still expensive and theres only so much of looking at things you cant afford you can manage. We did manage to afford a McDonalds after still craving one since Kenya and got a mcpizza which was too spicy for us and a taco bell which was also too spicy. The blandness of the food in the orphanage of pap and cabbage has eroded our tolerance of spicy food!
After this it was time for us to go up the Burj Khalifa. The viewing platform is 124 floors up making it the highest viewing platform in the world and the lift up takes 60 secs! It is also one of the fastest lifts in the world! We came just before the sun started to set so we could see it in the daylight and at night time! It was quite cloudy however but we did manage to see the new zealand island in the sea; which is part of the world map in the sea currently being built! Seeing Dubai from so high up- higher then all the skyscrapers is really cool- especially at night with all the lights. We then rushed down to see the fountain display before buying some chocolate camel milk on our way home.
The next day was our tour we saw the old dubai, the beach , which was deserted! We also drove past a huge water park which was closed due to the heat. We stopped at the jumeirah mosque and the very famous 7* hotel-the burj al Arab! After this we went on to palm island - like the world map it is completely man made land and stopped on palm island at the Atlantis hotel. After we took a look at the outside of the sheiks place before going back and going for a swim and something to eat in the restaurant at our hotel that was a train carriage! At night we tried to venture out again but after once round the block we got two kebabs and headed back to the hotel.
The dubai airport is also crazy big and you could spend hours there!! on our flight out we managed to see the whole of the world map in the sea which was really cool but unfortunately we didnt have our camera but Dan managed to take a pic on his phone!
back to normality...
