We woke up at 4.30am to get the 5.55 train out of Bangkok, we bought a ticket which included a bus all the way from the border to Siem Reap. We got on the train which had 38 stops, each one about 4 minutes apart, 6 hours in total. The train wasnt too bad because there was alot to see out of the window but it went through small towns where the tin houses were inches away from the train.
When we got to the final stop we went to a cafe and had some food and slushies which cost about $5 overall. We were sat inside but the heat was stilll unbearable. we then went on to the border which had a massive queue and worked our way to the bus to Siem Reap. We were sat on the bus for about 45 minutes before setting off until it was completely full. It was a 3 hour journey and the seat infront was broken so kept banging our knees.
As soon as we arrived at the bus station it started raining really really heavily so even when you went in it for 5 seconds to get your bag you got drenched. We got a tuk tuk to the hostel which had cover all the way round so didnt get wet. They arent really tuk tuk's though they are a wooden trailer with seats attached to the back of a moped. The hostel didnt have our reservation so they had to get a room ready for us, in the meantime we went to the bar and had some 50cent beer and food which was gorgeous and was only $3 a meal. Our room in the hostel was awful it had no glass in the window so anything could come in, it was dirty and the toilets were awful but we had to sleep quick as we were getting picked up at 5.00 to go to angkor wat
