We got up late as we hadn't gotten to bed till about 2am after all the excitement of being moved and getting brand new bug free beds. We decided to take the star ferry across the river to Hong Kong island to go up Victoria peak. The token machine had change in the bottom so we actually got a free ride across the river.
On the other side of the river the buildings were massive and we stopped by the road as on this side of the island they have the world's last wooden double decker trams. Or so the lonely planet says. The weather was hot and stifling and it was such a sweaty effort to walk anywhere even in the shade. Luckily there was a massive walkway between all the massive buildings so that we didn't have to keep crossing roads. We went through on building that only had Armani shops, they even had a florist. We walked past an old church which was very pretty and European looking but looked out of place surrounded by tall skyscrapers. We reached the funicular to take us to Victoria peak but the queue was massive!! It must have been at least 2 hours long, With no shade from the sun and cost a lot more then the guide book says I think it was about £7 for only a ten minute ride. We decided to give up and go back to the hostel. We got the ferry back the same way and made it to our hostel at about 5 pm, where the other 4 girls in our room had still not even gone out yet.
We got something to eat and headed to the light show that we missed on our first night in Hong Kong. The light show was quite good the sky was much clearer this night and so you could see across the river more clearly. Some buildings had massive lasers and lights which were cool but with the other buildings you couldn't really tell what they were contributing. Its like going to see the Christmas lights turn on at Blackpool, but because all the other arcades still have there lights flashing you don't really see that much difference. It was still good though because it was free!
The next day we had a lie in because our flight wasn't until 3pm, we headed to the airport and realised that we didn't have the print out so we didn't know which terminal we were in. Luckily there was a helpful guide there who told us it was terminal 2. We were still early so we spent the rest of our HK $ on food. The plane to Singapore was tiny, and it took 3 and a half hours which I thought was quite long.
Singapore airport was massive, they had free massage chairs and a massive slide you could go down, free cinema and even a free city tour if you had a stopover that was longer then 5 hours, I could definitely fly from there some time and it reinforces how rubbish Doha's airport was. Our hostel was situated not too many stops from the airport so we weren't on it long.
Our hostel didn't have a sign on the door so it took us a while to find until a nice man pointed at a random door guessing what we were looking for. The hostel was in an apartment block, but it had a free breakfast and a free massage chair that was so good!!! Our dorm room seemed to be full of people from all over Asia who lived there, one was even a pastor! Which was a bit weird!!
