Raining again. Took Sacha for a walk before breakfast. By the time I had had a coffee with Alistair and John(John is the one that lives in Falmouth) and chatted to various people on the way back it was 12pm when I ate breakfast. In the afternoon cycled up to the bridge and then walked into town. Quite pleasant as the streets are wider than the little villages. Impressive town hall. I didn't go into the castle as it has mostly animation and houses a museum dedicated to horses. Just outside Saumur is the National Equestrian School and is the place for the elite Cadre Noir if that means anything to you horsey fraternity. You know who you are!
On the way back it had started raining again and I was accosted by Dieter from Germany who cheerfully cycling around for a few months. We casually arranged to meet in the bar later. As it turns out I had a better offer being invited to dinner with Alistair and John in their super dooper van. John had cooked a pork casserole in their fancy little oven. Forgotten the name but it is from Lakeland and cooks downwards from the lid. All very pleasant.
