Left Amboise and drove to Loches about an hour away. Stopped just outside Amboise for a quick look at the pagoda at Chanteloup.
This reminds me that the Russian word 'pagoda' means 'weather'.
Medieval Loches has a feudal chateau where Joan of Arc persuaded Charles VII to march north to be crowned.
Subsequently the royal court that was established there was notorious for wild banquets. The kings mistress Agnes Sorel was officially recognised and died at the age of 28 with rumours of poison.
60kms on to Chinon where I had been told that the municipal campsite is in a similarly beautiful location ie on an island in the river. It is precisely that if anything even better as the view of the castle is closer.
When I arrived found that the electricity connections were French and they didn't have an adaptor to fit mine. I needed the female one!!
The huge supermarket L'Erclerc only had male ones too but I found Cassegrains that sells motorhomes and they had some. The girl tried to sell me one that was expensive but I spotted one that was half the price much to her disappointment. Now that I have one I bet I won't have the need for it again.
Back at the campsite I found that my neighbours were a nice young couple with an old VW that I had met before in Chisseau which was quite a coincidence.
