I had planned to stay at Chinon and have peaceful lazy day as the campsite was so nice.
However at 9am the sound of amplified music with heavy bass drifted across. Apparently a festival would be going to go on all day. I'm sure that if I weren't feeling so tired I could have joined in and enjoyed it.
So I packed up and headed for Saumur.
It is only 30kms away but a supermarket stop and some road closures along the way had me arguing with Ms Sat Nav.
I had been told by a couple about the nice site there -as usual now- on an island in the Loire river looking out to the chateau.
Whilst checking in a man asked me where I lived in Falmouth as he lives there also.
Nice site and it also has wifi- everywhere. Yippee!
Walled into town and it was the last day of the Anjou Velo Vintage. There was a great atmosphere of young and old dressed up in vintage clothing and on vintage bikes.
Thought I would try a glass of rose wine and chatted with an Irish lady whose husband owned the wine company and was selling the wine to China.
Back at the campsite I tucked into some delicious nectarines that I had bought that morning. The stones inside were mostly broken up and as I bit into the middle bit of the fourth juicy nectarine an earwig crawled out of it. I spat it put and then chased it round the van and squashed it.
Late afternoon it started to drizzle.
The couple that arrived just after me said that they had torrential rain on the way down. Whereas in Chinon it had been sunny.
