Heavy rain in the night. It stopped at 5am and I was wide awake and couldn't get back to sleep.
Visited the royal chateau of Amboise. Very royal it truly is. So much history.
I had decided to go to Tours by train It was very hot and I walked back to the van to get Sacha and I walked a couple of kms to the station in the sunshine. Then suddenly the heavens opened and the biggest drops of rain fell. Didn't know they could be that big.
Chatted to a French lady, Micheline, who spoke English as she had been married to an Englishman from Hendon. She had lived in many places all over the world. She told me so many things about herself.
The French trains are oh so smooth and clean- and on time.
The picture is of Tours station which you can see is ornate.
I was delighted to find a McD nearby so that I can use their wifi to catch up on emails and publish the blog.
Took one of those little tourist trains as it was just leaving
Noticed that at various places bands were being set up as there is a music festival about to start. Much of the city was rebuilt in an organised way at about 1900 and it works very well. It has a large student population 30,000 ish but it is fairly graffiti free and tidy.
After walking around I became aware of the dust. They are building a new tram system which probably contributed to the pollution.
Back at the campsite I sautéed some cooked potatoes, vegetables and had some tinned mackerel which I'd bought at Aldi's and is surprisingly good.
By now it was dry but very windy.
Right now there js some noise from the castle. I think there is a show going on.
A little family of ducks have just waddled over.
