Bloody English. Only thing they really succeed at is catching colds (ohhh nasty but really am over this cold business) And Westlife. Let me get started with them. First of all the only good version of Mandy by BARRY Manilow was on Angel and that was talking the piss out of it. It's a boring enough song. Who goes and does a cover of it? The worlds most boring and beige boy band Westlife. And the to the English public that BOUGHT IT AND MADE IT NUMBER ONE - go to a mirror and have a damn good look at yourself. Well guess what, it's sunk to new lows again by playing the snooker championship (yes that's right kids, oh so very damn exciting and edge of your seat thrilling - NOT!!!) in prime time. AND WHEN BUFFYS ON!!! That's just wrong, bad and very evil. However did see a clinker - The Weakest Line - The Drag Queen Edition. Was laughing me self silly about that. The English love a poll / list or two. So what do they do, they bring it to the telly!! Hence the Top 100 (insert one of the following - tv moments, books, movies, horror stories, stuff up on telly, etc, etc, etc), yes well the latest one is Top 100 sexiest moments on the screen? Hmmmm sounds like chanel 4's thinly veiled excuse to view soft porn (number one was Ursual Andress coming out the water in James Bond - which I agree with, oh crap have just given myself up for watching it!) in prime time viewing. A bit og gang action and it's only 9:30pm? Yup, that's number blah, blah and that's channel 4's excuse and they are sticking to it. Channel 5 are royally pissed because that's their market. Who else can get away with screening: Lesbo Vampiress: A woman falls in love with a vampiress (I am not kidding you, I did see this in the tv guide and the review gave it an "extreme dodgy"). Hmmm very dodgy. SBS - all is forgiven. At least yours comes under (no pun intended!) "foreign, cultural" films. In the Metro the other day, I noticed this, which I will share with you before I leave this entry. I don't know if anyone's aware of this, but England won the world cup. Fair go, they earned it as they played very well. But I think this is pushing my tolerence just a tad. They had a parade (which is controversial in itself. We chuck ticker tape parades for our sporting stars with no cares. Over here, they have to justify why and even then, everyone's cranky about it). A few hundreds or so turned out to see them (does the term bandwagon jumpers mean anything?), but in the Metro paper, the heading read as follows: England World Cup Victory Parade special - pg's 2,3,4,5,7 (wait there's more!) & 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56 - and somewhere in there was the news. Damned if I can find it!! Rugby isn't really that supported over here. I'd hate to see what happens if they win a football world cup or (now this literally never gonna happen) Tim Henman wins Wimbledon. Urggh - am finished now. Thanks for listening.
