Date: 31 June 2003 Adventures of Gamblegirl: Windsor So went and dropped in on me good mate - the Queen. Checked out her joint, thinking yeah what a great place to doss.... In all seriousness, went and visited Windsor, Eton and Hampton Court in the last of my day trips. Windsor is spectacular. I think somewhere between arriving and getting back on the bus, I managed to pick up my jaw. The extravagance - it was exactly how you'd imagine a palace to look like. Also managed to see the changing of the guard which was good - so at least I have seen one version of it. Am a bit confused at what Bette Midler's "From A Distance" has to do with it (me scratching my head) but hey!!!! Eton was incredibly cute. Had the best sandwich there. Soooo yummy and I found my fudge shop again!! Woah hoo. But my complaint was with Eton College. I don't know what I was expecting but not what I saw. I walked all this way to see this famous college and THERE WAS NOTHING THERE!!!! It was quiet a bit of letdown. I'm sure you could have gone in but check this out - it was £5 to enter and another £3 to see the museum on top of that. That's bloody extortion. Jeez, I am seeing a castle and I paid close to that. Have a mixed review on Hampton Court. Maybe it was because I'd just seen Windsor or maybe I just thought it was Okay but yeah - I am not sure if I liked it or not. It did have a lot of history (King Henry and his wives for example) but as far as being something to look at - well they could have put a bit more effort into it!!! Some rooms were left unfurbished and it looked kinda half-arsed. The chapel was GORGEOUS and the gardens were quite nice (had a little kip as was quiet knackered) but dunno. Although did see the signs for Legoland!!!!!!! I think that might go on the list of things to do. Thoughts and comments: Enjoyed my Harry Potter book greatly. Don't care if it's been given ordinary reviews, LOVE IT. Mcgonall rocks and I reckon that Neville Longbottom is the best character in the book (for those that have read it - you will see why!) Have seen my first fox. Sure it was so dead that rigor mortis had kicked in making it as stiff as a plank as it lay in a church garden bed, but was exciting just the same. So far have seen a toad, a fox - now I just need to see a deer and then have seen a few traditional English animals. Oh and by the way if you injure a deer or a swan over here, you have to report yourself to the police for damaging the Queen's property. Damn - there goes venison for tea tonight!!!!! Bloody Leyton!!!! And the rugby - now the Poms think that they have some kind of sporting hope!!! Can't be having that!!! What's with calling Tim Henman - TIGER TIM??? Um he's English and he looks about as threatening as a wet blanket!!!! Speaking of Wimbledon - that music for it being shown on the telly is the exactly the same that The Late Show used to use for the Captain and the Major. When I first heard it I nearly peed my pants with laughter Sob - am still getting over the loss of Becks. Had it all worked out - Becks for Becs. It was the perfect relationship - he has money and I want it. He has good looks, I can construct a sentence or two (more then Becks anyway)... See perfect!!!! Did you know that fish and chips comes in a can over here? It looks positively hideous. I would have to be absolutely desperate to eat that!!!! Steph and Simon are good (sorry Steph but everyone is asking so I thought that I would include you). Simon has a job and they are relocating to Oxford. Steph is now job hunting and they are in the process of getting a place to stay Love and kisses from your neighbourhood freak!!!!
