Adventures of Gamblegirl: Natural History Museum
With the days getting shorter and darker, and in a bid to save some much needed mula, I'm on the hunt for cheap things to do. While at the same time to see things. As I'm absolutely skint at the moment (my loose change jar is definitely coming in handy!!! Much to the pissed off people who are getting all my "church" money), museum's are looking good.
Apart from the British Museum, I've pretty much avoided all. Basically I thought they would be great winter things to do. And was I right!!! So I decided to hit the Natural History Museum first. I like museum's especially ones that have dinosaur bones and extinct stuffed animals and the learning part of it. Alway's have. While others hated going to the museum on school excursions, I looked forward to it.
But I can't ever remember museum's being so cool. Nowdays (oh great now feel really old), they are all interactive with cool technology, i just wanted to press all the buttons and play. One thing that makes it all interesting is the response of kids. It's like the zoo, everything's so what's this, what's that, big awe opened eyes and just being darn cute. Take for example: "daddy what's that?" pointing to a fossiled piece of camel dung. Watch daddy as he squirms and trys to explain that it's the world's oldest piece of poo. Ahhh fun and games.
But the museum confirmed two things to me. 1: That Tassie isn't part of Australia but is a seperate entity of it's own. According to the museum, it's Australia and Tasmania. And 2: that well Australia can hold it's head up proud when it comes to meteorites. Apparently we get some of the biggest and are a "hot zone". Sure we may not be able to beat the bloody English at rugby but we can get bigger space stones then them!!
Cheers
