Adventures of Gamblegirl: A Theatre Review
DATE: Tuesday 4 November
ATTENDEES: Yours truly and the wonderful Miss Jane. Jane got half price tickets, which was even sweeter! Good work there missy
PRODUCTION: Les Miserables
STARRING: A whole heaps of actors that I have no idea who they are - oh and John from S Club - aka the blonde dorky one that doesn't get to sing a lot because Bradley does... okay know waaaayyyy too much about S Club. Anwayhecansingrealgood!
PLOT: Okay will fess up - didn't really know the plot. I knew that it was a love story in some French revolution period. Seeing that they seemingly have millions of these, which one - b*****ed if I know (cultural and classy, that's me!)
So plot is, a prisoner breaks his bond and starts up a new life of being good with the generous help of a priest. Ends up becoming the mayor of a little town, meanwhile always looking over his shoulder for the lietenant that will never let him forget his past.
During his mayor period, he assists a prostitue who ends up dying and he takes on her daughter as his own, as a promise to her. Blah, blah, blah, a few years later, she meets up with Marius (Jon from S Club - damn can't remember his bit from S Club Party - Mish can you?), one look instantly falls in love. Meanwhile dude's past catches up with him, there's some kind of people's revolt. He rescues Marius, daughter and Marius fall in love, get married, Mills and Boon we're happy. (Man I should write up reviews, I am sooooo crap at this!)
SEATING LOCATION: Dress circle, pretty good seats, oi b**** in front, stop bloody wiggling!!! Ya blocking my view.
DUMB LINE OF THE MUSICAL: "I don't know what to say" as sung by Jon. Um in a musical / theatre performance, like um if you don't have anything to say, it kinda DOESNT WORK. It's not like he can stand there and act it!
VERDICT: Loved it! It was fantastic. With Les Miserables, I'd always thought if I don't see it, it won't be the end of my world, but I loved it.
MENTAL NOTE: The break in between is called intermission and not half time. Hmmmm too much footy for this cultural chick!!
Love and kisses from your neighbourhood freak!!!!
