Day 339 (Saturday 8th November 08)
Got on our way first thing and drove inland to Methven. Amazing scenery with all the mountains around. Planned on driving up to Mt Hutt but couldn't get very far before it was unsealed road and decided we wouldn't risk it after only picking Hump Puppy up a couple of days ago! Made our way onto Mt Somers and then through Geraldine before heading out to the coast again and stopping for a look in Timaru. Popped into the tourist information and asked about the price of campervan parks, decided they were a bit too expensive around here and they told us about a fete on at Pleasant Point so after a look around Timaru headed up there. Inland again and could see the awesome mountains. Noticed a campsite and went to ask about how much it was. Couldn't find anyone around and wasn't obvious at all where to pay so cooked up some lunch as we were very hungry. After wandering around after we had eaten noticed a sign that said you had to pay at the diary. Went into the town and wandered round the fete. Saw the sheep shearing competition and the sheep racing. Went to pay for the campsite and get the keys for the showers etc and headed back to the campsite. Straight to the showers and then spent the rest of the afternoon doing some study and sorting things out in the van. Had some toast in the evening as there was a toaster!!
