We drove for about an hour before arriving at the Pinnacles.
On entry to the Nambung National Park we were told that we could not take the van on the driving tour. We opted to drop the vans off in the car park instead of missing out.
With the vans sorted we headed off to view the unknown. As you start the drive onto the dirt road it's like you've entered Mars. Not that I know exactly what Mars is like but it was dry dusty and desolate....exactly like Mars :)
There are thousands of limestone pillars that rise up from the dirt floor. It's said that they originate from sea shells that have compacted with rain and since eroded. You have to follow a set loop but you can stop and walk through the pillars at different stages. It was definitely something different and with the ocean in the background makes an amazing site.
We finished the driving tour, had lunch and made a quick visit to the visitor centre before heading south again.
That night we stopped at Ledge Point a rich crayfish village an hour north of Perth.

Alf It's good to know that you're ok and your trip still is going on! I read it regularly and in my thoughts I spend some time with you. Here, the landscape is white…. winter has come. A big huge to the whole family
