After an early breakfast we headed off on the Windjana Gorge walk. It was only a short 1k return. The gorge consisted of some beautiful Jaffa coloured rock faces and about a million crocodiles. It was amazing to see so many in the one spot. We also saw some fish fossils in the rocks left from when the whole area was under water.
After the walk we packed up our camp and headed for Derby. We had to travel along the other end of the Gibb River road, we made it without breaking the van.
We stopped in Derby for lunch. On our way out of Derby I met an aboriginal local called Eugine. He was making some extra money by doing carvings in the seeds from the Boab tree. I bought one from him. It has carvings of an emu and a snake. What a great souvenir to take home with us.
A couple of hours later we arrived in Broome. I was so excited to see the ocean again, you could say it was a breathe of fresh air :)
We are booked in at Cable beach for four nights...looking forward to exploring this beautiful place.
