We spent the next four days in Kununurra relaxing, swimming and exploring.
On the second day we headed out to Lake Argyle. The lake is approximately 70Ks out if town. The landscape was very rugged, with lots of red rock. As you weave your way through the landscape an amazing lake appears. It was not like any other lake I have seen ( certainly not lake Illawarra).
We stopped at the various lookouts and took some snaps. The lake is 70ks long and 40ks wide. It is also the home of the diamond mine...not that I got to take any home. We had morning tea then we went to check out the resort pool. It is an infinity pool that looks as if it runs over the edge to the lake. Apparently it's one of the most photographed pools in Australia....I added to that record.
The last day was again spent beside the pool, fishing and playing with crocs.
We packed up the next day and headed for the Bungle Bungles...The car had other ideas. The radiator had some kind of mental breakdown :/. We limped back to Kununurra and as it was Friday it meant we were stuck in Kununurra for another three nights. We checked into another caravan park closer to town, also with pool. Thankfully NRMA paid the bill, for the accommodation, not the car... We spent the three days visiting Ivanhoe crossing, another popular local spot for fishing and swimming ( crocs are present) I was told that " crocs only eat you white fellas"....ok that's enough reason for me to stay out. There were people standing out in the middle of the crossing, knee deep in water fishing. That's living life on the edge. We also found a track near the river that took us to a point where the Ord river and the Dunham rivers meet. We saw a salty just cruising in the water, no fishing for us.
Three days later we have packed up again, hopefully the car has recovered and we make it to the Bungle Bungles.
