Hotel is very nice perfect for next 5 nights, comfy bed, lovely swimming pool and hot tub and although not as yummy as the ranch the breakfast is fine. Alan had arranged for Geoff from the ranch to pick us up in a hired car and be our guide to tombstone. The trip was good through some lovely countryside Apache territory! Tombstone is amazing we had a coffee and brownie Ito get us going. I hadn't realised that it is a proper town with its own residents. We walked up the street and it was like being in a cowboy film. There were people dressed up in western clothes some actors of course but apparently a lot of the residents join in and dress up. Stage coaches going up and down the street. We made our way to the ok coral where we came upon Wyatt Earp and his deputies they looked amazing!!! We watched a reenactment of the gun fight at the ok coral it was very well done with a bit of comedy. We were a bit concerned because Geoff had told us that a couple of months ago one of the actors had forgotten to remove the proper bullets from his gun and one of the actors and someone from the crowd had got shot..... We went to the birdcage saloon next which was fascinating everything has been left as it was in cowboy days. It was a theatre in the day and brothel. There were little rooms each side of the room where the girls would be waiting for their visitors! Loads of pictures and memorabilia everywhere amazing bullet holes in the walls and a faro table some sort of card game that doc Holliday actually played on. By this time we were hungry so we made our way to long nose Kate's saloon. Nick and Alan tried to get a discount because the said they were relatives of Kate with their long noses - unfortunately it didn't work. This was an amazing place also full of memorabilia and they had a cowboy singing and playing country music he was very good. We had a wonder in a few shops and then got back into the car and drove to Boot Hill. Here we saw the graves of many Cowboys and some of the wooden crosses had fascinating dedications on them! There was a very old Hearst but no Dave or Steve to be seen! We then drove to a very pretty town called Bisbee it is a very arty place and there is a hotel called The Grand Hotel where John Wayne used to stay. The young boy at reception let us have a look around it was beautiful old worldly. We had a coffee and Alan bought some delicious fudge I will be as big as a house if I carry on like this!!! Alan wanted to buy a new cowboy hat while he was here and Geoff knew of a boot barn where you get good deals so we drove there on our way home. Alan found a hat and so did Nick they look a right couple of Cowboys! Nick may never get work again.... We arrived back at the hotel very tired but what a fantastic day we had enjoyed.
