Woke up to rain again and news of 10 inches of snow in Flagstaff and freezing temperatures! We had a wander around oak creek and found a lovely hummingbird shop next to the office of the hummingbird society. Claire and I found a few gifts and looked at some beautiful photographs and jewellery. We filled the car up with gasoline (1 pound 90 a gallon). Went to the tourist information office to find out about the roads through Flagstaff. One of the roads was closed because of the snow and an accident but the other was by now fairly clear so hopefully by the time we get there it will be even clearer. There are the most beautiful red rocks all around oak creek and Sedona it is very beautiful. We drove to a viewing spot and took some pictures it was fantastic all the different shapes and colours. Popped into a big supermarket to get some provisions and started off on our way to our next stop at Page Lake Powell Resort via the snow covered Flagstaff. The journey was so picturesque fabulous countryside and rock formations. As we got near Flagstaff the countryside changed into a Christmas scene snow and pine trees it was amazing. The snow ploughs were still out but they had done a brilliant job and the roads were clear(a bit different to home). We stopped at a roadside cafe called Mary's cafe[it was just like the diners you would see in the films in tthe 60's ]we had coffees and hot chocolates and the boys had pate burgers(sausage) and I had a pancake. We arrived at Lake Powell in the dark, very comfy rooms can't wait to see the lake in the morning.
