Good morning.
We hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend, ours was last week and we are very jealous of you all now!
So as this seems to be our fortnightly update, we have mainly been working the week and doing as much as possible on the weekend.
Anyhow we wished Danny happy birthday last week, and a trip to Lynn Valley in North Vancouver was definitely the highlight. The exclusive neighbourhood is home to a spectacular (free) national park, with Suspension Bridge and hiking trails through aches of dense woodland. It is actually really strange to see a place like this so close to the city centre, but I suppose its not that much different to having a ski hill or a beach right next to the city! We can all see why it is always voted one of the best places to live with such a huge variety of things to do. Anyhow the Lynn Valley was gorgeous, we walked the suspension bridge and then headed down to the river which was, still a little cold to take a dip, but the colour of the water was very appealing and it looked so inviting. I also had a little accident in ripping my combat trousers - from crouch to knee. Very embarrassing but Megan and Mindy found it very amusing. They have also formed a Crème Egg eating faction in our houses (see the pictures).
So the work week didn’t prove that interesting, although we did go to see Robin Hood, which we were informed some was filmed in Ashridge (I even noticed it as the set Dom and I explored in our teens when First Knight was filmed there). Oh and the big news is that Danny got his first temp placement – woohooo I hear you all scream, hopefully they will start flooding in now. Megan and I have also booked our Central American flights – from Vancouver to Cancun and out of Panama to LA, and also booked Australia to Japan for the beginning of next year.
Saturday was a complete wash out – it hadn’t stopped raining for 3 days before Sunday! So we leaped on this opportunity on Sunday to head out to the Aquarium which is the middle of the beautiful Stanley Park. Megan and I had a “buy one get one free” voucher so it was only $20 for the 2 of us. This was actually really good fun, highlights being the Dolphin Show, Beluga training and Shark feeding. They had so many cool exhibits and it was actually really interesting, learning about the habitat and behaviour of these sea creatures. I had never seen a Beluga whale before and found them transfixing, but I think Megan liked the Frog feed the best (she has a thing for the peculiar looking animals – No comments please!!!! (I know what you are all thinking – HA HA very funny)).
So we have 2 weeks until the World Cup starts – I can hear Megan tutting from here (she is all the way over the other side of town – she loves football) and 3 weeks until my sister and my cousin arrive, where we are heading to Seattle and Tofino. So it is head down SAVE SAVE SAVE now… lots of walks and eating in (Megan cooked a fantastic roast pork yesterday for the 5 of us – Sunday roast YUM), and its “Bike to work week”– so I am taking some elaborate routes home to win the office competition.
Hope you all had a good Bank Holiday weekend – and thanks for the messages on the wall – we read all of them and love to hear how you are and what’s going on at home.
