Good Morning all you lovely people.
I know it’s been a month or so since we last blogged, so we thought it was time to say hello to everyone.
So what have we been up to?
Well Megan the little superstar finished up her job in Burnaby and is now working for Pixar Canada – I know I know I am very jealous too. She works in an office overlooking the ferry terminal and has a life sized Sully from Monsters Inc. looking at her all day. The walls in Pixar are all decorated with cartoons and she is well looked after – free food! She’s so sneaky and lucky!!!
Myself, well I am working for an Engineering company who are involved in the design of a new highway that links the outskirts of Vancouver to the suburbs. It’s not as fancy as Pixar but it brings in the money and to be honest it’s a great company to have as a reference. I am also learning a new skill – a design program called AutoCAD which I am sure will look good on the CV when we get back.
Danny has been less fortunate – he has not been able to find a job yet, and now we have been in Vancouver for over 2 months he is starting to get a little worried. Although, he is leaving on the 28th of June, to face a 3 and a half day greyhound trip to Boston. He is going to live with his “friend” for a month or so. She is coming back from Brazil, so watch this space! He could be next on the wedding line up…
So what have we been up to? Well, really we have been keeping a low profile, in order to save. Although that doesn’t mean there is not a few stories to tell. Megan and I have been exploring more of Vancouver and recently went to Jericho Beach and walked all the way to Wreck Beach – absolutely beautiful! We walked the pier near Jericho to watch the local crab fishermen which actually was amazing to see – really friendly guys just working to get an extra buck by catching and selling crabs. We have also taken a few trips to Granville Island Market – a huge public market which we like to explore and find new delights – the Swordfish was fantastic. We have also made some good friends in the apartment below us called Ewan and Mindy (we call her Millie), an English couple from Devon. We have had a few dinners with them, been watching the Canucks (Vancouver Hockey) Playoff games, and we even went to a police auction last weekend. I have also been watching the Fulham matches, and am bummed I can’t go to the Final but am taking the whole afternoon off to watch it… I am sure Ewan and I will have a few drinks after regardless of the result! Come on you Whites.
I have also been cycling into work recently (a guy from work gave me a Mountain Bike for free! Sweet!), and the weather has been brilliant for the last week, nothing but SUN.
Megan and I really enjoy the trip into work; with the mountains and sea in view it really does beat the crap out of Hemel Hempstead and Leighton Buzzard – no offence to either place. The snow has started to melt off the mountains and we can see huge patches of mud where we were skiing not a month ago. It really is very picturesque. Speaking of gorgeous we have also booked an Alaskan cruise late August which we are both very excited about (Northern Lights and Glaciers :-)).
So that’s it for the Vancouver update, hope all is well in all your respective parts of the world.
Back to building roads for me, and Megan has a date with Buzz (lightyear that is!!!!) Speak soon.
p.s. Just in case anyone fancy’s meeting up we will be Central America mid September – late October, you are not invited to French Polynesia, New Zealand in Mid November and Australia in December… Just drop us an e-mail or comment on the blog.
