Our friend Kim organised for us to go on a weekend ski trip to a place called Revelstoke, 2-3 hours west of Lake Louise. So they picked us up and drove us all the way there. The drive was stunning, mountains all around – as you would expect. We went through an area called Rogers Pass which has avalanche tunnels. Meaning that they are so frequent the highway agencies built special tunnels for the avalanche to go above the road – how cool is that! The scenery is just spectacular, vast mountain scapes covered in pine trees with metres of snow all around; it’s seriously like a picture post card. Anyhow we stayed in a motel with Kim, Adam and their friends Darcy and Heather – it was pretty basic but the best part is that our bed was in the living room – funky!. The Mountain itself is quite a new resort, and you take a Cable Car above the cloud line. It’s like Skiing in the heavens, and unfortunately under the cloud line was pretty slushy. We soon found out that this mountain is known for difficult terrain – oooppps – who knew! Megan was fortunate however to get a private lesson free of charge and excelled as usual. She is turning into a right little ski bunny. I skied the 2 days as it was too advanced for me and the board. The summit and the back bowl were fantastic – really challenging and one run called Chopper was so bumpy I even got some air…. Actual controlled air not like in Lake Louise. Anyhow we both had a great weekend and Kim dropped us back at Lake Louise for us to meet up with Danny and head to Golden.
