Hi all.
So we have been in Vancouver for a month now, and we still have so much to do. The Apartment is great, Megan and I both have jobs – Megan is a Receptionist for a Office Leasing company and I have been working in the downtown east side or “Drugies corner” as its so elegantly referred to. It’s the poorest area in all of Canada, but I was working for the Aboriginal (First Nations) Employee Assistance Company where I helped with job hunting skills and general computer. It was really rewarding to actually help people who wanted help! The area is also not that bad, I went for numerous meals in shelters and got to know the history of the neighbourhood (it’s quite a sad area when you realise its not that dangerous). Anyhow that ended and now I am employed by a Consulting Engineering Firm hopefully until we leave. Unfortunately Danny has found it harder and has a job watching the Simpsons and Family Guy most of the day, oh not to forget Mantracker. Hopefully it will pick up, as he is planning to head to Boston to see his “friend” in July.
So we are saving for some more adventurous exploits. Megan and I are seeing the winter season out and took and trip to the local Ski resort called Cypress, which is very local – unfortunately we also couldn’t see in front of our faces and the wind at one point knocked Megan off her feet! Easter weekend, all three of us took a trip to Whistler as there has been so much snow, in the last few weeks it’s brilliant to ski/board. Megan is becoming so good, and my new board took a bit of a beating. We were happy Dan got to experience Whistler as it was awesome… Next week we finish off at Cypress – hopefully with some better views than a metre in front of us.
All in all we are having a blast, waking up with Mountains in view is always great, the social scene is a bit slow, but we have been out in Gas town recently meeting up with Loran from Sydney. The food has been gorgeous too, the Steaks are huge! And we had Lobster Ravioli the other day while out which was phenomenal. We also go on walks quite a bit, Stanley Park and Granville Island are among our favourites. All is all we are chilling before we have visitors from the UK and some time to make some money. We hope you all had a good Easter and thanks for the messages – keep them coming we appreciate them :-).
