5/4 Tuesday Zumaia to Ibiri Auzoa 15km
Breakfast at Santa Klara was disappointing- it looked liked toast, olive oil and tomatoes but the latter proved to be tomato sauce!
On the road in the sun but cold air again. After about 3km there was the usual route choice - Camino over the hills or GR121 which ran down and along the coast. My local guide, ok actually a lady walking her dog said the coastal route was a little harder but a lot more beautiful! So it was the slightly longer and more up and down coastal route for me. Some beautiful cliffs and coves with vertical sedimentary rock strata.
Walked alone today and only saw local hikers until I dragged my very weary self down the steep hill into Deba where I was soon installed at a cafe with the guys + Susana from Hamburg. I enjoyed a caña con limón and a rest.
Supplies were needed as we agreed to cook and eat together again tonight and just as important we needed food for breakfast and lunch as there are no cafes or shops for the whole day ahead.
Despite having felt very weary the final 5km up hill passed easily as I chatted with Mika who was walking the Camino with his boxer dog and camping where he could most nights. Now his pack was heavy with a tent and dog food!
The hostel here is private and a bit chaotic. Seems to sleep about 20 in two dorms but only two toilets and they are in the same rooms as a shower and sink.
Enjoyed chorizo and pasta followed by crème caramel and strawberries then it was blog and off to bed.

Lynn Pickles Good to hear you are walking with a dog owner. I assume there are some difficulties having a dog in the hostels. Lewis is too old to do that kind of walking these days.
