19/4 Tuesday Santander to Boo24.5km
Santander to La Maruca 5.5kmLa Maruca to El Cazurro 9.5kmEl Cazurro to Boo de Piéaglos 9.5km
Today's direct route was not appealing but the coast was. Only problem, the latter was 33km rather than 14km. My compromise was to cut my own route directly north across Santander to the coast which cuts a big corner off the coastal option.
Good breakfast and then out into the rain. The locals had their umbrellas out so I did too. Made the 5km to the coast in a little over an hour. The coastline was spectacular but after 1pm so was the rain!
At El Cazurro I found a bar open thankfully and so took shelter and lunch! Interestingly, this part of the walk is called the Costa Quebrada, just like one of our favourite walks in Vejer.
Well still 10km to go but no sign of rain easing as I use the rest to write the morning blog. After an hour in the bar, large bocadillo eaten, the rain stopped and it was 2pm.
Just light showers for the rest of the afternoon as I continued along the glorious coastline. Eventually, I had to cut inland, through a pine forest, and along a couple of km of road to Boo.
Albergue Piedad was a welcome sight after the weather and distance. Warm, comfortable and a towel as well as bedding provided- the towel is a welcome first. Looking forward to the communal meal with Wilhelm and Hans for Holland. They just flew out from Amsterdam to restart their Camino from where they left off.

Lynn Pickles Thanks for including the kilometers between places. It brings a whole new level of appreciation for what you are doing. Each section is doable .... until you realize that you are having to get up the next morning to do it all again. I tend to walk at 5km an hour - without a pack - so I am assuming you are walking about 6 hours a day. Would that be fair to say?
