Woken to Gregorian chants today, that and gales! Off with a few fellow pilgrims to the panaderia for coffee and croissants.
Ulf (Norse for wolf) was an intense guy from Germany that I agreed to set off with. First via the water taxi across the river and then we agreed to take the scenic coastal route despite the wind!
Ulf was on his second Camino and explained that he suffered from depression and thought walking was better than drugs or therapy. I’m not sure, it sounded like he was hurrying away from facing his problems.
We parted company when the GR121 continues following the coast and the Camino cuts in-land. I took the scenic route again! Nepalie Flat!
No more pilgrims but I spoke to a local. It was a sheltered path out of the wind and he said it was Tranquilo - just the music of the sea! Of course he was right and what a lovely thought.
Not much further and there I was looking down on San Sebastián. Next, a steep descent to the beach and into the old town to find my expensive pre-booked hostel bed. The Albergue was full when I enquired a week ahead. Still, I get sheets and a duvet tonight.
Threw my kit in a locker, changed into sandals to give my feet a change and headed out to explore and find pinchos! A pretty place to stroll around with old churches, lots of bars and a statue on a hill overlooking the town. It had to be climbed despite this being a lazy day in theory.

Lynn In Erin’s Camino documentary there were a few Germans who said the same is your companion! It was a recurring theme!
