We said our goodbyes to Ted and Jean, after having a cuppa with them. Then rattled and rolled yet again over the corragated roads, down to Willie Creek Pearl Farm.
We had a look around the Willie Creek Pearl Farm and through their jewellery gallery but decided not to do the tour. As we were leaving, we had stopped at an information board, when one of their tour buses pulled up. The driver went over to a shrub and gave us one of their willie Creek Bird Flower (see pic).
We went back into Broome to stock up on the essentials, drinks, food and water before heading 10km east of Broome to a free camp. After about an hour, a guy Neville Haynes, who we had been following his adventure across the Gibb River Road, via Facebook, and his Coaster build on you tube, popped into camp. We chatted for awhile about the area, building buses and his great little pup.
The next morning we went and did the Courthouse Market then drove the bus down to Gantheaume Point were Neville had told us it was fine to drive the bus directly onto the beach.
We went for a paddle in the beautiful water and we are chilling out enjoying the scenery, planes taking off from the airport, boats coming and going into the water, a helicopter landing on massive boats, taxi's driving up and down the sand dropping people here and there and listening to the races (Broome Races were on opposite the beach.)
As we were relaxing on the beach, a woman comes up and said "Hello would you be Alan?" It was Rita who had worked for Fred, she knew we were coming into town and had been looking out for a bus. As we were talking to Rita, who calls but the one and only 'Fred'.
After 4.30pm we went and parked at the town beach, went through the Staircase to the Moon market and grabbed dinner. We then went back to the bus, pulled out chairs and had a drink, while waiting for the moon to rise. At 6.43pm up came the moon. The Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats of Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide creating the optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon. The staircase occurs three nights each month from March to October.
We arrived back at the free camp where we knew Ted and Jean were there. They had a fire going so grab a drink or two and enjoyed the night around the fire.
We woke to our second foggy morning and had been blocked in by backpackers, there was 94 vehicles in for the night. The backpackers in front of us moved their cars so we could get out. Neville popped in with our hard drive as he took our movies and he transferred his movies back into our hard drive.
Off we went in search of the Dinosaur Footprints at Gantheume Point, which again you need a very low tide to find. Back at camp, we cooked up sausage rolls in the Baby Q and Alan did some improvements on the bus.

Cuppa You were within a few metres of human footprints in the rock up at Willie Creek, but they would have been covered with rocks to hide them! I expect next stop will be Barn Hill? If so the spots along the top of the cliffs to the right of bowling green (when looking out to sea) we thought much nicer than the more crowded powered sites to the left.
