We decided to take the longer road up to Karratha, it was about 330km's 200k of that is red dirt. Most of the road of pretty good, the grader was working some of the road. We headed into Millstream Chichester National Park had a look over the campgrounds and had lunch in the Millstream section of the park before heading out and camping in yet another beautiful gravel pit, which we didn't find on Wikicamps and cooked up chicken parma's for dinner with salad potatoes.
The next day we went into Python pool, which was absolutely stunning. The road into Python pool was very badly corrigrated but certainly worth the effort. Scenery was amazing. We headed into Karratha and got some supplies before setting up camp 10km out of Karratha beside the Nicoles River, dry river bed.
